Our deluxe motorcoach will take you on a complete tour with narrated history detailing the landmarks, legends and splendid architecture that made this city famous. Travel from the French Quarter, through lush City Park to the Lakefront and around to the timeless beauty and aura of Uptown" on St. Charles Avenue.

Along the way stop for a refreshing lunch and tour of Longue Vue House and Gardens, a classical city estate which boasts of American and English antiques, French and Oriental carpets, and a fine pottery collection. Eight acres of Gardens surround the house in a variety of planting styles and layouts. Brilliantly colored horticultural displays and lyric fountains surround the lovely home. Brush the edges of the downtown Central Business District as we return to the Conference Hotel.

Sit back, relax and enjoy a delightful journey back to an era when sugar was king and a massive plantation was a sugar planter's kingdom! Travel along the River Road (which follows the Mississippi River) to San Francisco and Oak Alley Plantations.

Bright and colorful San Francisco Plantation is so named as a derivation of the French Slang "sans fruscins" - "without a penny in my pocket," in reference to its high cost to build. The history of San Francisco goes back to 1820 when it was formed as a combination of smaller properties.

After a tour of this ornate mansion, the tour will proceed to Oak Alley Plantation where a plantation style luncheon awaits on the grounds. There you will tour this Greek revival style mansion, built for a bride in the 1830's, and marvel at the entrance pathway lined with 28 live oaks. Nowhere else in the Mississippi Valley is there such a spectacular setting!

This complimentary activity is presented by your ICC 2000 Conference Committee, and is open to all registered conference companions. What a perfect way to start the day --renewing acquaintances while enjoying coffee and a fashion show before departing on your daily tour.

SE05. Swamp And Bayou Tour

Take a thrilling trip into the swamps and bayous of Southern Louisiana. View the nesting grounds of alligators, egrets, raccoons, nutria and ducks from the comfort of our swamp boats. Be sure to remember your camera to record "Les Bons Temps" - good times down on the bayou. Lunch included.
